A Baroque Operetta Cupid's New Weapons of Love (Nuevas armas de amor) A Modern World Première Thursday, February 14 & Saturday, February 16 @ 7:30 p.m., City Performance Hall, Dallas Arts District.
This charming 18th century Spanish comedy by Sebastián Durón offers an action packed evening of Spanish musical theater. Sung in Spanish, declaimed in English, it tells the tale of how Jupiter fought to seize Cupid's arrows, only to have Diana, god of the hunt, return them. Between acts, enjoy a hilarious tale told in six dances: El maestro de danzar! Starring Mexican singers and Spanish dancers in a work full of the rhythms of Spain and its famous traditions. Add stunning period costumes and sets, a vibrant cast of actors and singers, an award winning Spanish production team, and the music you know of the Orchestra of New Spain.
