Health and Fitness Project Leader

REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator EMPLOYEE STATUS: Under contract

# of volunteers under direct supervision: 5-10 LOCATION: Clover Site

Basic Purpose: The role of this position is to plan, implement, and coordinate a health/nutrition and fitness initiative, funded by the National Recreation Foundation and managed by KERA in partnership with the Avance-Dallas Baby University program . The Health and Fitness Project Leader will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all programming activities which include health and fitness workshops, and events for families. The candidate will report directly to the Baby University Program Coordinator Supervisor.

1. Schedule and coordinate health and fitness meetings, events, interviews and appointments.

2. Purchase and maintains activities supplies.

3. Evaluate and encourages a safe and healthy functional environment to enhance and promote family wellness.

4. Function as the agency liaison with school, parents, agency and funders.

5. Prepare activities according to healthy initiative.

6. Monitor progress made towards meeting goals and objectives approved by the National Recreation Foundation and KERA as part of the contract.

7. Lead recruitment of trainers and volunteers and meets with them regularly maintaining active communication.

8. Prepare monthly status reports.

9. Other duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: 1-2 years working with adults and children.

EDUCATION:

Preferred: High School Diploma.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Experience with health/nutrition and physical fitness.

OTHER REQUIRMENTS

Must work well without direct supervision; must be able to effectively utilize time, show self-confidence and exhibit enthusiasm for work. Must serve as a role model of physical health. Must be organized and resourceful and with some knowledge in budgeting and purchasing.
