ECO-CITY

Eco-Shopping Tours : Learn how to be a green shopper by attending a free shopping tour. Through a partnership with the city, Walmart will serve as the host site to demonstrate how easy it is to be a better steward of the planet. Attendees will examine products with recyclable packaging, products that have a reduced impact on the environment, and products that help to conserve water and energy. Tour dates are from 9 to 11 a.m.:

·         Aug. 8 – Walmart, 4100 State Highway 183

·         Aug. 22 – Walmart, 1635 Market Place Blvd

Organic gardening class: The city will offer a free class on organic gardening with Growing Green – Starting an Organic Garden from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Southwest Branch Library, 2216 W. Shady Grove Road . Dotty Woodson with Texas AgriLife Extension Servicewill discuss organic garden design, timeline for planting, materials to use for best results, and harvesting techniques.
