Montserrat Cravioto was born in Mexico, City. She lived in Houston since 1996 to 2000 where the marvelous, and mysterious world of Iconography captivated her. Later she moved to Dallas where she opened her workshop. In 2003 she organized an Icon exhibition and conference title: “Introduccion to the Sacro-Byzantine Icon” with a renowned artist Isabell Creixell. Now she dedicates a great portion of her time painting those beautiful images.
Montserrat Cravioto’s icons are handcrafted. There are representations of an original strict Byzantine style technique from the 12th Century Oil-based colors over specially prepared wood sometimes covered with a hand embossed pewter.
All her Icons are unique. One of kind pieces signed, numbered and each one has a Certificate of Authenticity.
