Reciclaje en HCCC y en Irving
HACKBERRY CREEK RESIDENTS TAKE TO RECYCLING IN A BIG WAY
Every Tuesday morning, Village streets are lined with blue bags. Hackberry Creek residents are participating in the City of Irving’s curbside recycling program in a big way. Everyone benefits from recycling.
- Recycling 1 ton of glass saves the equivalent of 9 gallons of oil.
- Recycling 1 ton of newspaper saves 17 trees and uses 60% less water.
- 20 recycled aluminum cans can be made with the energy needed to produce 1 can using raw bauxite ore (non-renewable).
- Recycling 1 ton of newspapers saves the same amount of energy contained in 100 gallons of gasoline.
- Approximately 40% of all landfill trash is a paper product. Most paper is 100% recyclable.
By recycling, we can:
- Reduce the burden on the City of Irving’s landfill and extend its life by many years
- Save tax dollars
- Preserve our natural resources
- Reduce pollution
- Save energy
If you ARE currently recycling, THANK YOU! Please spread the word to the neighbors on your street.
If you ARE NOT currently recycling, please allow your friendly Hackberry Creek Recycling “BLUE CREW” to help you get started….it will only take 15 minutes of your time!
The first 15 Hackberry residents who e-mail Dannie Flaherty at dannieflaherty@yahoo.com will receive a free box of 50 blue bags and a free recycling trash container (or hooks if you prefer) which will be delivered to your home.
And Dannie promises that they will only take 15 minutes of your time! You can also purchase a trash container yourself and then purchase the blue bags at the MUSTANG PARK RECREATION CENTER, outside Hackberry Creek Gate #2, and start tossing, all together, your junk mail, various plastics like cream cheese containers, water bottles etc, glass bottles, telephone books, school papers, newspapers, magazines, cereal/pasta boxes, aluminum/steel cans, plastics, cardboard boxes, etc. in the SAME blue bag, then put it out with the trash on TUESDAY mornings (not Fridays) – it’s as simple as that!
